My dear wife and I drove over to Butler County to find some stone - TopicsExpress

My dear wife and I drove over to Butler County to find some stone arch bridges that I heard about, yesterday. There were many that had not come to my attention before. The self-guided tour concentrates on the southern part of the county, and even those are not all there is to see. These were each built about 100 years ago, give or take about 10. One we found was built in 1897. They have stood the test of time. Each one is on an unpaved country road, except one. Limestone blocks were hewn out by hand and placed just like a jig-saw puzzle. Arches were around since the time of the ancient Romans. We ate lunch at El Dorado and spent the afternoon going to the far south, along Haverhill Road. We found one that we had not known about and had to pass by a feed lot at a ranch. Lovely. We drove 169 miles just to do this. Rick Hitchcock
