My dearest work is my band, The Blush. Weve been working our asses - TopicsExpress

My dearest work is my band, The Blush. Weve been working our asses of with my dear friend Max for the past 10 years. It all happened at a time that was personally difficult but songs were the place where nothing can touch you and at the same time everything is about you, you, you and the feelings. Many times the feeling is the impulse for a song, in good and bad. I can crab my uke or guitar or even bass and start to try something, maybe a chord, trying bit of a melody, letting the mind wonder and maybe find some words to say and let the feeling lead. Once capturing a sort of an idea, sticking to it, sing it, play it, feel it, enjoy it, cry, laugh, feel excited, however, all is allowed, no right or wrong way. I dont believe into too much critisism once writing a song, you have to let yourself be free and just play in your playground, be a kid and dont take yourself so seriousy. There is no such thing as mistake, just exciting and thrilling and fun ideas or not so much fun, thats all. So we started back in 2004 after we had to re-write a song cause the computers program had crashed and the new version of this originally finnish song titled ´Goal unknown´ became somewhat quite different which reminded partly The Streets of Philadelphia from Bruce Springsteen. I immiediately said that this is it, I found the music style that I wanted to make. We had tried for several years different kind of styles such as dance pop and hip hop. Few friends came to try to play the songs with guitar and certainly we started to get an idea how it could sound. It was challenging for Max to make punkish songs with computer programs but the idea was clearly heard. We wanted to make something with skate punk and psychobilly, a merge of rockabilly and punk. Or this was the original idea. We created 4 tracks which were raw and we knew from the beginning that we needed a band to collaborate with in order arrange the songs for live instruments and in the way we imagined in our heads. 2005 I contacted the drummer Mika in order to discuss about forming a band and who would he recommend to join the band. He put a word for Timo and Toni and so we started to build all up. Toni became the main arranger right away and later also a co-write. I had played with all the lads in former projects so it was easy to start but the idea of a band has to be lived and experienced together and we had to find our bands way to do it. It gave such a joy to get to play our own songs, so much pride and joy. I had at that time a british manager Quincy and he understood my/our dream of getting out there internationally. He was a mental coach above all and we talked very much of plans during the years we met. We worked with Max side by side sharing the same dream. Endless planning what to do next, making pr material, taking actions and money. Max took first photos and desings all graphical stuff. We are the songwriting, pr, record company, booking agency team etc. What we dont know, we learn and keep actively moving forward towards our goal. For two years the band has been touring abroad. We started in Portugal (thanks Lien for your help!) and so far weve had 8 tours in Spain, Gibraltar, the Netherlands, Belgium, Russia, the UK, Sweden and Finland. It took some hc door to door work but it paid off. Weve had great feedback in different countries, people getting excited and singing along and smiling a lot! That feels so good. The feeling that you can sing together and get wild! Im blown away. Weve had funny and hard situations on the road, meeting so many friendly people on the way, thank you each and every one of you. You didnt have to but you chose to to. Love you back! Our aim is to get a good record deal and in order to do that you must show what you are made of. One good thing about being finnish is that youve got SISU, meaning balls and gutts and that you just dont give up. So how to do that then. You need to have a fan base and publicity. We have been played on radio in Mexico and Latin America, the UK and Finland. The most recent one, Ill post here. The mission is on. We look for record labels, promoters (festivals and clubs), club owners, booking agencies and media (radio, press, net). All tips are welcome! Follow us on facebook/theblushmusic
