My disappointments and criticisms of Obama are not the ones people - TopicsExpress

My disappointments and criticisms of Obama are not the ones people generally hear howled. He is not ‘too liberal’ for me, I find that claim laughable. He is too much in bed with Wall Street for me. He is too far to the right for me. I am saddened by the immense blindness that partisans on both sides have displayed. I am sickened how the public has clung to their dogma in the face of enormous evidence that their worldview or loyalties are flawed. I am angry that Obama spoke my beliefs but didn’t practice them. I am angry conservatives have rejected the core tenets that guided them in the pre-Reagan era. I believe liberals have been duped on a massive scale, and this goes all the way back to the 90s. We liked Obama’s words and we liked his bold promises of change and hope. However 5 years into his presidency, it has become abundantly clear that he is a Democrat in the mold of Clinton, and not FDR. He is fundamentally a centrist and often times a conservative, not the raging populist and progressive that was projected from his campaigns/speeches. It is true that the enormous Republican obstruction has crippled his agenda and administration, preventing common sense legislation such as a minimum wage increase or infrastructure spending, accomplishments the Republicans of the Eisenhower era proudly fought for. It is equally true he has the reigns in some important spheres, and has chosen to entrench and even worsen horrible policies such as domestic spying and drone strikes. During the healthcare debates, he ultimately chose to push through a conservative solution, partly due to the necessity of compromise, mostly to appease center leaning Democrats, and not as many insist, to meet the demands of the Republicans who were going to vote against it no matter what the law said. I think Obama is a decent man, and I do not regret voting for him, as the alternative would have simply been Clinton. I am not entirely angry at Obama, I am angry at the system who produces a man so thoroughly removed from the left and he can convincingly pass as a leftist. I am angry at a system where money reigns and democracy decays. I do not wish to see a Clinton presidency. I have thought long and hard about this. She has too much in common with Obama. I will support Clinton if she should win the primary and is going up against an extremist/idiot like Cruz or Rand. However, in the primary, if a populist like Warren or Sanders runs, they will receive the heart of my support. Sanders already has an astonishing record to prove his dedication to the people. Warren so far has boldly went after Wall St., and has already proven herself the populist we elected Obama to be.
