My dog, Peter Jacob Daniels (commonly referred to as the Governor or with my friends in the South as Guvnah or Gov) is in the last days of his life. I want to put him down but he is showing such a strong spirit to fight that I cant let him down; maybe in a couple of days. In his sickness he still had the strength and resolve to show his teeth and growl at one of the other dogs who was trying to steal his treats mixed with medicine. Pete has been with me all the way. He served proudly at my side as Eminent Archon (President) of Sigma Alpha Epsilon-University of Oregon, came with me to New Orleans for law school and has taken a dozen or more cross country flights with me. I fondly remember him sitting on my lap as I read hours upon hours of case law at Tulane. On behalf of Pete, I apologize to my friends over the years who may have been mistakenly identified as intruders and thus the recipients of a bark, bite and/or growl. What can I say? Pete takes after his owner ;-) God Bless the dogs of the world and the owners who love them. The saying is true, they really are mans best friend.
