My email in: (Send yours in this morning too) Yes I was at the protest, I run the Midleton Against Irish Water Campaign on facebook. Since the Protest interest is and anger is only getting stronger. Since Saturday weve had dozens of requests from local residents to get involved in the campaign, they want to do more than just march. This issue is only going to get bigger. We have residents here in Midleton offering to pay to hire rooms and projectors etc in the Midleton Park Hotel for public meetings to be held, countless people messaging us to offer help with the campaign, pay for leaflets, banners to be made etc. Ive never seen such anger and determination, 6 years of watching Ireland roll over like a dog and do whats were told by the Rich and Powerful, well those days are over, Im proud to be Irish This week. This governments finished, they are just too desperate and blind too see it. To hear Sinead Desmond display her ignorance, implying we want free water is a discredit to TV3 and shows her her total journalistic incompetence. This year alone, the Government will raise 1.77 Billion in Water Taxation. Ear marked for the Provision of domestic water and sewage (2% Added to Vat, 5% added to Motortax, 5% added to VRT all in 1997 for the provision of water, and a percentage of the the Household change / LPT for the provision of local service including water and sewage), Michael Noonan confirmed the cost to supply water and sewage service to domestic users is 1 billion per annum. That leaves us with a surplus of over 3/4 of a billion Euro every year. Irish Water is set to raise only 150 million.. Do the maths, this is nothing more than revenue generation and Jobs for the boys! The installation of these meters is leading to a massive increase in leaks, theres estates being flooded over hastily installed meters, youtube videos showing irish Water workers filling in concrete on top of leaking pipes, taking weeks to come out and fix pipes they burst. Wanting performance bonuses before they were even set up and wanting them even if their work is poor! Directors being popped in under a Fine Gael jobs for the boys scheme, John Tierney who lost 100 million on the Poolbeg debacle, which we still dont know where thats all gone, as CEO, Coleman Sheehy.. worked in sherryfitz in lettings for under a year in 09, thats his total experience in work. But once his brother dropped a donation in to FG, hes made an Irish Water Director. They can try to push ahead with this, but all they are doing is setting up a huge bonfire of Irish Water Bills come January, that and ensuring the Fine Gael and Labour parties cease to have a Dáil presence after the next election.
