My email to the Minister of Transportation Dear Minister Stone, - TopicsExpress

My email to the Minister of Transportation Dear Minister Stone, I think it was Charles Dickens who once said, The thing about quotes on the internet is that you cannot verify their validity. Given these wise words, I felt the need to write you to verify the authenticity of a quote attributed to you, made in an interview with CKNWs Bill Good. He asked, Minister, many ferry users insist the ferries are an extension of the highway system. Do you reject that argument?” You responded, “Yes, I reject that argument and so has every B.C. government for a good number of decades now, including ours, the previous NDP government and Social Credit governments before that.” Well, I thought, there you go, a consistent position from all parties on the matter, so we must gird our loins and prepare for the inevitable....after all, they cant all be wrong. Then my husband, who is quite interested in politics, pointed out that during the time you were Mr. Gordon Campbell’s executive assistant, he had stated: “B.C. Ferries routes are an extension of the highway system and ferry travellers have the right to access those routes as they need to.” Well I was shocked. It must be that you forgot Im sure....a slip due to the pressures of your office. Then my husband directed me to an old CKNW program where our own Ms. Clark took to task the then current Minister of Transportation, saying quite clearly that ferries are indeed a part of the highways system. After hearing all that, I find I am quite concerned about you Mr. Stone. For such a young man in the prime of life to have so may lapses of memory and be so confused about who said what and when. Thats when I decided to email you...not only to verify your quote, but to pass along a suggestion I think might help sort your memory issues. Lumosity is a software program that helps people in many areas of brain functioning including memory and problem-solving abilities. Ive heard it can be quite effective and you can work on it right in the privacy of your own home. Just dont let too much time pass. Get working on it right away and do please consider holding off making any more decisions about ferries until you start to see some improved scores. Good luck, and please, do keep me informed as to how things are going.
