My endorsement for Dr Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan GCFR. My - TopicsExpress

My endorsement for Dr Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan GCFR. My civic responsibility is to cast my vote to the candidates of my choice as a citizen of this great country Nigeria. I want to now take a position on this after careful considerations. A lot of friends, fans and family members on social media have consistently asked me on several occasions the side I belong in Nigerias political equation and I intentional kept mute to wait for a time like this to make a pronouncement on my position in our political space. I have waited patiently for the manifesto of the major opposition party [APC] in Nigeria before taking a position on this matter. The APC just flagged off its presidential campaign in PH. I did not see anything different in the manifesto that will take us to the Eldorado or Promise Land. The Presidential hopeful of APC, General Buhari in his speech at the event did agree that the desired change will take time. This is correct. Real change and transformation require deliberate efforts and time before manifesting. As a Thinker, I feel its time to apply common sense which is not common any way. Its better I stick to the transformation agenda of Mr President, Dr Jonathan that is on course already than gambling into a new arena. I have carefully looked at the performance of the president amidst distractions and have come to observe that Mr President has done exceedingly well. The President is also humble and a great democrat. He has scored a lot of political points, though there are areas for improvements, which I believe will be attended to in the course of his administration. We just need to trust and believe in our leaders. My major reasons of endorsing and supporting President Jonathan are: 1. He is a true democrat: Before now, we are used to imposition of candidates. To a reasonable extent, the President has scored high points here. Some of his men lost primary elections in their respective states: Labaran Maku - Nassarawa, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu - Ebonyi, Chief Wogu - Abia and the list go on. Before now, once Abuja anoints a candidate, the rest is story! The president prefer to watch while internal democracy takes place. This is the character of a gentleman and true democrat. 2. Sanity in post election issues: Before now, court judgements removed a lot of people from office. Thanks to Prof Iwus system of INEC and meddling of the presidency at that time. Today, the case is difference. 3. Political Killings: Before now, this was an issue. Police is still investigating Funsho Williams, Bola Ige, Marshal Harrys deaths, just to mention a few. Now politicians speak freely and move freely. Nobody is on exile! Thanks to Dr Jonathans administration 4.Energy and Power: This is a major challenge but with successful privatization of the sector, improved gas supply and construction of more dams; I see light at the tunnel. 5. Transportation:Aviation is working, railways are working today! Rail transport system died over 15 years ago; today theres hope for this sector. Enugu to PH via train has commenced. Other routes are in progress. New International airports are springing up, old ones are being improved. See Enugu Int Airport. See Murtala Murhammed Int Airport. 6. Insecurity: Insurgence is a global menace. Its an international problem and its not what will be stamped out today. The fight is on and I believe we will defeat this terror. Our military is being equipped for this war. The international community is involved in this battle. Nigeria will be free and secure again! 7. The largest economy: Yes we are the largest economy in Africa. This status can reflect in our daily lives if we continue to attract new investors and see ways to diversify the economy. This government is on course in this area. 2015 budget presented by Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala is in the direction of enhancing other sectors than our traditional oil economy; especially now the price of crude oil is nose diving in the international market. This new thinking will also help in tackling the issues of unemployment, reducing importation, enhancing exportation, stabilizing the economy and developing the country in general 8. The opposition is old wine in new wine skin: When I look at the opposition, I see the same old politicians; maybe aggrieved ones that converged within an arena that is convenient to continue their old style of game! I do not see any change coming from these sets of people! 9. The Man General Buhari: There is no doubt that GMB is a major contender in the presidential election but I find it difficult to convince myself to cast my vote for a man who was head of state at 41 in 1983. This same general has been in the corridors of power since 1970s! Today he is a grandfather at 72+, my question - just as the Bible would ask, Are there no oil in Gilead? We were told in elementary school that we are leaders of tomorrow; I still join other younger Nigerians to wait for tomorrow! Will tomorrow ever come? While I respect the general, I will maintain that he has paid his dues and should kindly allow the new generation to step in. I may have had another opinion if APC picked a candidate like Mallam Nasir El Rufai from the North, Adams Oshomole from the South South, Owelle Rochas Okorocha from the East or Raji Fashola SAN from the West. These are new generation politicians that are qualified in all ramifications. 10: Negative utterance: While I hear comments like: Baboon and Dogs will soak in blood, We will make the country ungovernable, We will form a parallel government if election is rigged, etc. The President Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan kept saying, No blood is worth spilling for any political ambition This is a mark of a great leader. While I may agree that President Jonathan may not be the best man for the job in the country, I will also maintain that he is the best candidate we have - looking at the options available. His transformation agenda is on course. The sure-p is also working; creating jobs for the youths. Theres massive efforts to send our children back to school in the North via a lot of avenues. The military is being equipped. I strongly believe that all will be well. Feel free to comment or share. Please in commenting, find the right words and try to be as objective as possible. No insults or foul language please. My face book page is clean and for noble people. With the above submissions, I have stated my position to 5,000 friends, fans and family on this platform. I totally endorse and support President of the federal republic of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan GCFR in his second term ambition. Long live our beautiful country Nigeria! Long live great friends! George O. Emetuche, Author, Public Speaker, On Air Personality and Entrepreneur
