My enjoyment this week and its significance.... Genesis 3:1,4-6 …And he said to the woman, Did God really say, You shall not eat of any tree of the garden?...And the serpent said to the woman, You shall not surely die! For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will become like God, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was a delight to the eyes and that the tree was to be desired to make oneself wise, she took of its fruit and ate…. Genesis 3 shows us the subtleness of the enemy even to the extent of using Gods Word to stir the woman to disobey God. Yet it is not mere the act of disobedience but the deadening result of the act that frustrated Gods purpose and plan for man. In his scheme, Satan deceived the woman by the goodness of the forbidden tree and enticed her to make the wrong judgement. The serpent touched Eves mind, the weakest part of mans soul by instigating and causing the woman to doubt Gods words, stirring her emotions to dislike God and seducing her will to partake of the forbidden tree. Hence, the enemy poisoned the whole soul of man - the mind, the emotion and the will. This soul was purposed to express God. Instead, the enemys evil mind, emotion and will, was injected into man contaminating the soul of man. Hence, Satan, the enemy without, became the adversary within man. This was a great fall and a hindrance to Gods purpose and desire. The spirit that was meant to receive and fellowship with God was deadened; the soul that was to express God became an expression of the evil one and the body was transmuted into flesh because of sin. Romans 5:12 says Therefore just as through one man sin entered into the world, and through sin, death; and thus death passed on to all men because all have sinned. The sin and death in Genesis continue to exist today in all of us. We are not constituted as sinners because of sin but rather we sin because we are sinners. Satan is the very sin within man. Because his nature is injected within man, therefore man sin and making man a victim of death. Hence, there is a need for us to be saved. Romans 5:19 states For just as through the disobedience of one man the many were constituted sinners, so also through the obedience of the One the many will be constituted righteous. Through Christs obedience on the cross, we can be hidden in His righteousness, reconciled back to God and regain an open fellowship with Him. Moreover, Christ, as our hope of glory, brought us back to our original purpose, that is to express God and represent Him on the earth. By believing into Him, our spirit is regenerated (from death), and the faculties of our soul (mind, emotion and will) has a hope to express God. Our element and inward constitution can be changed by taking in Christ. Just like physical food is assimilated in our body so also if we eat him as our spiritual food, we assimilate Him and He become our inward constituent as He is infused into our being. Today, we have the garden of Eden inside of us. Just like Eve, we are always in a crossroads to make decisions. Do we partake of the tree of life or the tree of knowledge of good and evil? Our decision is important as it yields either life or death.
