My entire life I thought the Christian Center was Rankin s greatest asset. This year they have not been honest with me. Since 1997 when my Father passed away, we received donations from family and friends to give a scholarship in his name. The $300 donation called the Mayor Matthew L Furjanic, Sr, Scholarship Fund, was designated to a high school senior from Rankin who was active in the Rankin Christian Center and community. This year was the 18th scholarship given. Two months ago, we were invited to participate again. In past years we gave the check directly to the recipient. This year I was told to donate the $300 to the AN Minnie Fund. But it would still be called the Matthew L Furjanic Sr Memorial Scholarship. I received the program and I found out I was misled. I feel bad they couldnt be honest. The scholarship wasnt given in my Dads name. Next year we will look for another venue to offer the scholarship. Maybe Chief Ryan Wooten will help.
