My experience in Israel this time is so radically different than my previous trip. There were times then of tension and minor violence. However, the violence and terror I am surrounded by during this time is forever changing me. As I sit and type I hear the continual sound of military jets flying overhead and the seemingly never-ending sirens of emergency vehicles. I have seen a large number of military tanks and vehicles being transported to the borders. There are innumerable times throughout the day when my heart will suddenly stop for an instant thinking that I hear the sirens for incoming bombs. An escalating number of families are receiving the shattering news of the loss of a loved one fighting for freedom, simply fighting for the right to exist. Tragically this is the reality. Originally my group had planned to visit Nazareth and other sites during our free time, yet this weekend we had to cancel our arrangements due to the increasing rioting and violence. Hamas is calling for a third intifada in the West Bank, which is only a matter of minutes away. In the midst war on possibly multiple fronts, a large percentage of the world is standing in solidarity with the terrorists. There are parades and protests around the world calling for the elimination of the state of Israel. The leaders of Israel are being demonized in worldwide propaganda. As I study here I am continually learning further that this is a spiritual battle. This is a war against covenant with the Almighty. This is a war against a covenant people. This is a war against the prophetic. No matter what unfolds I know that we dwell in the shelter of the Most High. The Lord of the Angel Armies is warring in this land and in Him I trust. Baruch Hashem.
