My facebook fans. I am posting tonight to let you know about some - TopicsExpress

My facebook fans. I am posting tonight to let you know about some changes coming to the bakery after the first of the year. First, I have made the decision that I will no longer be offering classes during the winter. Second, I will be switching to a custom order only shop, which means there will no longer be retail hours or goodies to grab and go. You may still either call me to order, stop in if I am at the shop, or order online at the soon to be launched online shop. I am trying my best to be able to do what I love, stay in business, and to continue to serve my customers. I will also be upfront and honest about the reason behind the change. It is not the big box stores that are causing this, but the fact that I can no longer compete with those in the area who are unlicensed, working out of their homes illegally, charging way less then what I can, and still stay in business. I have licenses (yes more than one), commercial rent, commercial utilities, and commercial insurance to pay for every month, above and beyond what I spend for quality supplies to produce the scratch, handcrafted, items you know and love. And for the continuing education to stay informed and up to date on trends, techniques, rules, regulations, and health and safety issues in the industry. I have tried to keep my pricing fair, and still be able to make a living. It has been heartbreaking to see those who post and say that they charge as cheaply as they do because the bakeries are just way to expensive, or that it is just a hobby, or to see someone post a query for a baker or cake decorator and have myself mentioned with the other honest bakers, then to be followed by at least 10 other names of those who are not licensed. My bakery is not any of the above. I charge what I need to charge in order to stay in business, and to help support myself and my family. It is my job, and lifes passion, not a hobby. And it is a fully licensed and INSURED business. So, again, I apologize if this causes any inconvenience for any of you, but I am hopeful that, by making these changes, I will still be able to make those special treats and cakes for those special moments of celebrations in your lives. Thank you for all of your loyalty, and support. I truly appreciate it. Angela Heberlein A.A.S. Professional Baking Owner, Patisserie DGenevieve
