My faith and my testimony As a young man gallivanting in the world with all manner of bad habits and seeking for worldly things, l one day heard a still small voice as l was pondering over the purpose of life, on where do we come from, why are we here, and where we will go after we die, telling me that l was not born with all these bad habits like drinking, smoking, womanizing etc which my families and friends were not comfortable with but rather l was born as a fresh baby and so l will leave this life without them again and l should look for a true Church of Jesus Christ to fellowship with but l always ignore the message. I shared this message with many of my wonderful families, friends and co-workers who invited me to many Churches but my life was still the same and the message keeps coming to me, so one early morning after asking myself so many questions again, l heard a voice again telling me that l should go to the Church which is located close to the road side at Teshie , which to be frank , l did not know anything about but that very day , l just decided to wear a white shirt and without tie and not tucking in my shirt , l walked majestically in to the church where two young men that l later got to know that they were full time missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They welcome me as if they were already aware of my coming and when l was given a sit in the church, l heard the voice again telling me, “could you not be like this brethren” and after thinking of the question for a while, l said within myself yes and when l said yes, l received another message again asking me “so what is preventing you to be like them, you can stop every habits”. It has never been easy to stop those habits but as l was taught by the missionaries about the PLAN OF SALVATION, which answered all my question about life before l came here , and what will happen next after life , l strive hard to leave the habits one after the other. I have served in two Bishoprics as 2nd and 1st councilor respectively and currently serve as a 2nd councilor in the new branch presidency which was created in September 2013. Identifying my purpose in life has helped me to form a nonprofit organization to help children and youth in rural communities specially my village to be able to achieve their goal and aspirations in life. The organization is promoting education, health and positive youth development in these deprived communities. Last Christmas, we donated clothing, food to about 800 children to share the joy of the season with these poor needy children, we have also been supported by the LDS Charity to donate medical equipment to health centers in these communities and currently working with public basic schools to improve their academic performance, this is because, children from these public basic schools cannot read and write. I have consolation in hymn 223 (Have l done any good in the world) that we have a lot to do in this world to make difference in the life of our fellow human beings and these children in these rural deprived communities need me most to know the purpose of life.
