My family & I have all been off with a horrible coughing bug & headaches, on Tuesday night my 2 year old started throwing up & had rapid breathing, temperature & a rash, so I phoned NHS direct for advice, who after listening to his breathing via the phone & requesting out of hours GP to phone back & listen, I was told to take my son to emergency out of hours at Withybush. It was 11.25am & I drove in a panic state as my son was coughing & crying in the car. I arrived & waited & at 12pm noticed the reception desk shut. My son was seen by a GP & given steroids & medication & told to take him home & ring if any further concerns. I had him home & asleep by 2.30am so it was a long night. What made me realise in horror is that had I phoned after 12pm would I have been told to drive to Carmarthen instead??? as I was already in a panic driving from Milford to Haverfordwest- I hate to think how I would have coped driving further afield!!!!
