My family and friends, Facebook animal advocates and rescuers... Please support this cause. I will be going in August to Tijuana with this group and we need all the support we can get. A brief bit about why were going there (it will be my first trip).. but hopefully in good hands with Johnny Ray. Anyhow... Johnny Ray organized Operation Love Mary Lea. Operation Love Mary Lea is a group of dedicated volunteers that will visit Mexico in November to provide aid to animals living in the most dire situations, where basic needs are not being met. Last time was a tremendous success, through generous donations, they were able to spay/neuter 186 dogs and provide necessary hospitalization to over 636 street dogs. Thats how I got involved with this whole thing- just watching his videos on Facebook. Intense videos where he approaches sickly street dogs and feeds them, applies flea/tick medication and so much more. Why I support this so much (other than caring for the most needy) is because amongst these services they provide, is one dear to my heart, a free spaying and neutering event. And goodness, do we need more of those. Those of you who know me know I am an avid laanimalservices freak (trying to promote adoptions for the overwhelming # of dogs on death row on that site) As I made a mistake buying a Bulldog, (cover your ears Zoe) the least I can do is give back for those that didnt give a chance. So there are hundreds upon hundreds of homeless and starving dogs running rampant on the streets of Tijuana and I cant think of a better way to directly help animals who are suffering. So... Consider this: One female dog can have 16 puppies a year. If each of those 16 puppies reproduce (and they can as early as 6 months of age), in just 6 years, they add up to be 67,000 dogs. See how far your donation can go: $15 will spay/neuter one street dog $28 will spay/neuter one animal and provide needed vaccinations $38 will spay/neuter one animal, provide vaccinations, plus flea/tick treatment $48 will spay/neuter one animal, provide vaccinations, flea/tick treatment plus dental services $68 will spay/neuter one animal, provide vaccinations, flea/tick medication, dental work and food for an entire month $78 will spay/neuter one animal, provide vaccinations, flea/tick medication, dental work, food for an entire month and de-worming services Any little bit helps.
