My family has such a rich military history and it is one of the things I love so much about them. My dad is a retired Sgt. Major in the Marine Corps, my brother is a retired Major in the Army, and my husband served in the National Guard along with countless cousins and uncles who serve(d) as well. I go throughout my day experiencing freedoms they fought to protect and tonight, I sit with incredible gratitude for their sacrifice. This painting is one I normally share on Memorial Day but this year I choose to share it on Veterans Day because without those who serve or have served, my freedom to express myself creatively may be censored as so many countries are. What a remarkable country we live in thanks to those who sacrifice so much for us.
