My father-in-law, Manford Hypes, will soon be with his Lord which he greatly loves and served all his Christian life. Manford is the best example of a Christian I have ever had the blessing to encounter. He has been a mentor, advisor, and friend not only to me, but to many others as well. How I cherish the times we were together talking about the Lord, our country, and most everything else. When Manford gets to glory he is going to have a great welcoming party of people he sent up there to great him. Manford was a faithful and concerned soul-winner. He was always looking for people to speak to on the Lords behalf armed with his Bible and a pocket full of tracts. He routinely led elderly people to the Savior. Some even in their 90s. I cant imagine the number of people he has influenced for the Lord since his conversion in the early 1960s. When he became a Christian, Manford, was a machinist for General Motors Allison Aircraft Division. He worked on the most important part of the jet engine, the main shaft. He was very skilled in his tasks, so much that Allison wanted him to go to other shops and teach his techniques. However, once he knew the Lord Manfords desire was for the things of God and soon he felt the call to be a preacher. After a few years and much prayer Manford left his good job, nice home, and worldy security to attend Tennessee Temple. A few years later, while working low paying jobs to support his family, he graduated and moved back to Nicholas county WV to start the first Fundamental Baptist church in the area, Faith Baptist Temple. The pictures with this post were taken in the late 1970s of Manford behind the pulpit and next to the church van. Though there have been many ups and downs since then, Manford has been faithfully and continuously serving the Lord in various ways ever since. Manford Hypes was a gift from God to everyone he ever met. The Lord raises up special people like Manford to bless, instruct, and encourage His people in this present evil world, but some do not realize the gift until it is too late. When Manford suffered his stroke on Monday, he was returning from visiting a person for the Lord that was weighing heavy on his mind. When he got home he lot consciousness and has not opened his eyes since. I dont know who the person was Manford had to visit that day, but I just hope they realize he/she is the last person this great man of God will have spoken to for the Lord. I pray they heed everything Manford told them. What a blessing to have know such a man of God! How much greater a blessing to have such a godly and honorable man as your father-in-law. See you in a little while, Manford!
