My father is a very strong but with the rabbit he is afraid. Watched Down by Law, its from 1986. Franco, did you know that? Mike, whats your beef with Jim Jarmusch? I really liked this movie. This is another movie Id count as a true original. 3 guys end up in prison, become cellmates and it just goes from there. EXCELLENT dialogue in this movie. Just single shots of these guys talking. Tom Waits, I really wish this guy was in way more movies. SUCH a fantastic character actor. And I love that hes a DJ in this movie. Its like pullin teeth to get you to talk and youre a @#$%ing DJ. John Lurie, interesting actor. Like Waits, a musician who acts occasionally. Hes not the best, but he has a way about him. This street person attitude thats great in this film. But the real star of this movie is Roberto Benigni. I had never seen him in a movie before. Never saw Life if Beautiful. I sure will now. He is AMAZING in here. I could watch him sit there and try and English for hours. Hes so funny in this film. And a character Id count as one of the best friend characters. Hes just such a positive kind of character. Nothing mean or negative about him. Just super friendly and wants to converse. And is okay killing someone. You throw ball against me? I throw ball against a you. I take a one ball, a number 8 very good ball, a black ball KAH in the ground. First a stroke...... DEAD! Very big man...... in the ground. Benigni steals this movie. Im surprised he wasnt up for an Oscar for this movie. These 3 guys scenes together are what make the film. Sometimes just a series of great dialogue scenes is all a film needs to be good. The film looks great, too. Black and white photography by Robby Müller. I love black and white. Black and white, in my opinion, hides the age of a film. And Down By Law looks like it could come out today almost. Its got a fantastic ending with the 3 guys coming upon an Italian restaurant in the middle of the Louisiana bayou. Original, funny, good acting, looks nice. This is a solid film.
