My fathers artwork is being featured in an art exhibit at the Koa Art Gallery in Hawaii. His work will be surrounded by the work of his mentor Isami Doi and the collective group of artists from Hawaii - Satoru Abe, Bumpei Akaji, Jerry Okimoto, Tadshi Sato, Harry Tsuchidana, all of whom were my extended family growing up in New York. I am really happy that the support was given by David Behlke to remember and arrange such a show. It is sad that my Dad passed away some 40 years ago and never got to hear the recognition and acknowledgement for the body of work that he produced. I can still clearly remember, despite being me being so young, my Dad working all day as a professor of fine arts at the University of Syracuse, coming home for dinner and then working late into the night in his studio. The weekends were great, when my brother and I would go to the University and create our own lithographs and etchings, and watch large scale bronze, steel, and aluminum sculptures taking shape. Experience the exhibit at KCC if you have the opportunity, it is truly a window back in time into a verdant time in Hawaiis art history. koagallery.kcc.hawaii.edu/exhibitions/exhibitions_koaartgallery.html
