My favorite # 10 :- LAND ROVER -( 1947 - 1957) ...Favorite not only bcoz ...Even today , Unofficial figures claim that 75% of the Land Rovers from 1955 are still on the ROAD !!!.... So why??? :-) Shortly after WW11, the British Government could not assure the supply of STEEL ;......Rovers management ( **Spencer Wilks** & his designer..also his own brother ) realized *without STEEL* ,their hope to restart full production of the companys Pre war Luxury cars would be impossible :( While war ROVER units have been fully functional producing Air crafts & tanks..Now still had great skilled work force and war time left out raw materials ........but at the same time after war great number of WILLYS jeeps, battered with little possibility of repair with erratic supply of parts !!... ...Now though this had nothing to do for others , but ** WILK** brothers ..being great Pros...decided to utilize ** BRIMABRIGHT** , an Aluminum & Magnesium Alloy, which was earlier used to built Air Crafts during war . So now the Body was BRIMABRIGHT , using Jeeps existing P3 Engine & transmission...The Car was ready for the Show !! :-) Land Rover always remained true to its tough, out door spirit Land Rover Born accidentally as a * STOP GAP* for underused Rover Plants ..............Now undisputed emblem of OFF_ ROAD cars for more than 6 decades :-)
