My favorite picture.....a very rare photo of Ste Annes Church as it looked new when built in 1901 by Mr. Elisee Marchand...great grandfather of Lee Melanson and Ruth Anne Melanson Scully . It was a very beautiful clapboard structure complete with decorative molding. Note at the time it was built there was no large chimney and rear door faced the street. You will also see that the front steps consisted of one large base across the structure later changed to three individual sets of front stairs. Also missing are the fire escapes on the rear building and Ste Annes Rectory. It was designed to look like many of the beautiful Catholic churches in Quebec Note ..the bottom of the picture is a dirt Jefferson Avenue and the original wooden bridge. The nice white wooden picket fence was replaced with a chain link fence. There is also what looks to be an ornamental bird at the top of the cross Ive been hoarding this a couple of years and finally decided to share it
