My favourite aeroplane - The Supermarine Spitfire. Ill tell you a little story.... Back around 2007/08, August. I was in my back garden. I lived in Four Marks then (Alton) and was working on my garage roof. It was Wings and Wheels weekend at Dunsfold. The sky was blue, hardly a cloud to be seen. Warm, light breeze. Ideal conditions. Id seen various aircraft fly overhead, some quite low, on their way to, or from, the Drome. Id seen the historic flight go over, a Lancaster a Spit and a Hurricane all close together. Some while later I heard the unmistakable sound of a merlin engine. It was the Spit, very low, and alone. Hed flown out this way to practice !! Yes, not kidding. As he flew over I could see the pilot. Hed just flown over my place when he banked sharp left and climbed. He then proceeded to go through a number of rolls, turns, loops. All very close to my house. Fantastic, what a treat. I will never forget it. He was there for maybe 15mins and then shot off back towards Dunsfold.
