My fears for the Niger delta. Exparts have on various fora, opined that the oil and gas deposits in the niger delta will dry in about 40years. Oil production is targeted at about 4million bpd, by 2015. Extraction of other mineral resources nowhere near. Oloibiri where oil was first discovered and extracted in commercial quantity has been drain, polluted and abandoned. Other communities will be drained and abandoned to there detriment. The riverine communities in the creeks that produce 70% of the nations oil are the most under developed. To crown it all, the niger delta is smelling doom in about 35years time. Who cares? If you are 20 today, by that time u shall be 55. There are three stages of our existence; the past, present and the future. We were either non existent or immature and ignorant in the past and we can do nothing about it. The future is not certain but we have the present in our hands, We can do all about it now, we might have a chance in the future. Lets wake up and help ourselves will the little we have. Let our governors put our 13% derivation to work. The time is now, not tommorrow.
