My fellow Democrats, on Saturday November 9, 2013 those of us - TopicsExpress

My fellow Democrats, on Saturday November 9, 2013 those of us registered to vote under Boleladitswe will cast their votes to choose parliamentary and council candidates to represent the BDP in the forth coming general elections. As all of us democrats exercise that right, we should also put the interests of the greater Chobe population at heart. Chobe is an area with a lot of challenges but also with greate potential. However, we can deal with these challenges and realize the greate potential our district poses if we cast our votes wisely and for a good purpose. We can achieve our goals by electing candidates with critical thinking skills. Let me posit that there are simple things we can do for ourselves with little assistance from Government. We have trusts of our own - SEBOBA, CECT and KALEPA. We can tap on revenues generated by these trusts to improve our peoples lives. In the first place if we understand why these trusts were created we should know how to effectively utilize them. We need sound political leadership at all levels to protect, sustain, and tap on the revenues generated from these Community Based Organizations for our own benefit. Second, the BDP Government has come up with policies and programs aimed at helping us deal with problems of unemployment and economic dependency that we have experienced for a long time, and yet because of our poor choices of political candidates we have failed to take advantage of them. Government has enacted youth development programs to help our children create employment for themselves and others and yet at local levels we have failed to provide the youth with the minimum requirements such as land and guidance for them to start the process of accessing these programs. Third, Chobes economic potential rests on Agriculture and heavily on Tourism. However, these have not been fully exploited to benefit Chobe and its people, particularly the youth. This is so partly because we do not have on the job training policy for our people employed in these sectors to venture into them. Fourth, our school going children, not only in Chobe but in greater parts of the country, are characterized by failing their terminal grade levels something that should worry all of us. Our education system needs complete overhaul in order for us to reduce these failing rates and create greater opportunities for our young boys and girls. It is for these reasons and many others that I ask all Democrats in Chobe to elect me (Robert Masene) to represent BDP and the people of Chobe in the forth coming general elections and to eventually lead our people into a better future. If we fail to this we would have failed our people and the nation of Botswana; we would have failed the children of Chobe to achieve their dreams. I ask all of you especially the youth to go out and vote for me and protect your interests and that of the rest of our people. I have a very good understanding of many of our problems and I have a set of well informed solutions to quite a number of them. It is for this reason that I ask for your vote. Your vote counts. Best Regards, Dr. Robert Sinvula Masene (PhD)
