My fellow How I Met Your Mother fans, if you have not watched the finale of the show I warn you now the following contains spoilers. Do not read on if you dont want to. I will be breaking down the finale and presenting how I think it should have ended... So, last night 9 seasons of one of the best sitcoms in television history ended. This in itself is reason to be upset, but the finale we were presented with has left a sour taste in many peoples mouths. A show that has spent 9 years building up to a single character would, you think keep her around for a while. Such is not the case. The entirety of the ninth season was spent at Barney and Robins wedding, something we were assured would be Legendary. The wedding itself was nice, but how about ending the marriage ten minutes later? Seems like a bad idea right? Well thats what happened. Personally I was let down by the fact that they ended Barney and Robins marriage. I feel as though they should have stayed together. Here is my biggest issue with the show, we spend nine years watching and waiting for Tracy, then in the finale they have her and Ted finally get together, rush through their lives together in 20 minutes then kill her off. What a bullshit call. The part that is even worse is that afterwards Ted ends up going back to Robin. This is a storyline that has been entirely played out. It is annoying at this point and should not have been revisited. Now for what I think should have happened. Everything that happened with Lily and Marshall stays the same. Barney and Robin stay together and either end up having a miracle baby or adopting one. Ted and Tracy end up together and are very happy. They stick it out through the tough things, like her getting sick, but due to the modern medicine, she does make a recovery. In the final scene it goes as such; Ted: Kids, as you go through life you will suffer heartbreak and experience success. I want you to always remember that love is the best thing we as people can do. Love is what makes it all worth it, it gets you through the heartbreak, and makes successes better. When you find the kind of love that I shared with your mother you hold onto it and never let it go. That is the love that completes you.Loving your mother is the best thing I have ever done. Everyone has teary eyes, camera changes to the doorway as Tracy walks in - her hair now growing back after her chemotherapy treatments - she walks over to Ted as he places his arm around her and they look into each others eyes and back at the kids. Ted: And that kids Tracy cuts in, Is how I met your mother. Title screen, roll credits. Please feel free to leave your comments below.
