My fellow Sikkimese people, As we move ahead to build a better and a newer Sikkim for all, I want to emphasize on the importance of people’s participation and their pivotal role in a democratic setup; to carry forth our ‘pavitra kranti’ towards attaining true democracy. In a democratic setup, peoples’ participation is indispensable while the government is a mere facilitator. The true essence of democracy lies in active participation of the people in policy making. People should not remain confined only to their rights but be equally aware of shouldering responsibilities and their duties towards the State too. The development of any society depends on the free flow of ideas between the people and the government. A healthy synergy between the government and the people ensures all round progress. People should be diligent, well informed and endeavour to increase their skills so that they can avail the opportunities created by the State Government. I appeal to all my fellow Sikkimese people to come forward and help strengthen the democratic set up with their participation for a vibrant and dynamic democracy in the State and the country.
