My fiance and I have decided, that although we are dirt poor - TopicsExpress

My fiance and I have decided, that although we are dirt poor (thanks mostly to the economy not being so kind and my fiance having a disability) that we are getting married, anyway, because our values come first. Ill be honest, Id love to wait until there was money for the wedding she dreams of, but because we are facing moving in together immediately due to our financial situation and her disability, we are choosing to honor God and our beliefs and each other and become married despite our circumstances (I guess were a bit traditional). We are not looking for anything elaborate, just something memorable. Before the downturn of the economy, she had a photography business in Greenville, so most of our friends and acquaintances are wedding vendors, and several have offered help making this happen. We now have an officiant, a dj, a photographer, and a venue. Now we just need to fill in the few little things, and any help is greatly appreciated -- I want to give her as much of a wedding as possible. Our theme, both because we like it and its cheap, will be October. So, anything with pumpkins, fall leaves, etc are in for us! I plan on utilizing Facebook, being free, to set up a page and invite our friends, so no need for invites. The programs will be simple. They will be an opportunity to publicly thank all who helped make our ceremony possible, as well as being something for the scrapbook. Im thinking I can find some chic, cheap small paper pumpkins or something, since its Halloween season to adorn the programs. Any donations of old fall/Halloween items would be much appreciated!! As far as what well wear: her idea is I will wear borrowed khakis and a pale creamy orange-ish preferably or other fall colored, light colored button down shirt and my only dress shoes, which will look good at the lake and with an outfit like that (Im a mens 28-30/36 pant and long, slim fit, small-medium shirt) (Our venue is lakeside and outdoors). Shes planning on wearing whatever dress she can find (preferably a light creamy/ivory color, but obviously shes open). Shell fashion her own headpiece out of a headband and some birdcage lace fabric (anyone have a scrap piece?) or, if anyone knows how to, shed love to make a flower halo to wear. Shell need shoes. If itll work with the dress, her dream would probably be bright orange flats to match the pumpkins. Ill be using pumpkins as the only ceremony decor, unless some old fall decor gets donated or loaned to us. Flowers will be whatever is on sale at the grocery store that morning! And thats fine with us. Ill borrow a table -- Im a pastry chef by trade, so I will make our own cake :-) -- the table will hold the cake, a card box Ill have to make from wood scraps or whatever I can find, and any fall decor available to me. The only wishlist item would be a bowtie and matching leash for her Service Dog, Mr. Moss, who will be waking her down the aisle. ANY help making this simple ceremony happen would be a dream come true. Your trash may truly be our treasure right now. We can be reached here at FB. Thank you for reading our story, God bless, and have a great day!! And thank you in advance for any help making this a ceremony to remember as we honor the Lord and each other with this marriage.
