My fight with cancer I went to UofT for neuroscience and there I met the man I fell heads over heels. Me and him were from different religions. As a result, my strict dad did not approve of our relationship. I felt like religion shouldn’t matter when you’re in love. But I knew my dad loved me too much to hate me for life and would come around eventually. So after graduation I left toronto and moved with my boyfriend to vancouver to pursue my studies. I really loved this guy and didn’t want to lose this over religion. But then everything changed after I was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer. My bf was supportive the first few months and came with me to the doctors and the chemo treatments. But, with me getting weaker as the days went by and becoming harder to handle with his career, our future looked less promising to him. He told me “ I love you unconditionally” , I guess these conditions made him forget about our love. He left my hand , but you know who grabbed it? The man I left him for, my father. My father in a heartbeat left everything for me and has been my support for the last year in this fight against cancer. He tells me every night before I sleep “there is no condition my princess, under which I would not love you”. He doesn’t just say it, he shows it. Just remember - even though its easy to forget at times, family is the most important thing in the world. This could mean your mother, your father, your siblings, your grandparents – but for some, its simply those with whom we share unconditional love.
