My final deadlift from ProRaw6- 197.5kg to gain a 5kg lead, first - TopicsExpress

My final deadlift from ProRaw6- 197.5kg to gain a 5kg lead, first place and Triple Crown with a 455kg total (165/92.5/197.5). I was trying to keep it a secret that earlier this week I weighed 80.2kg, but word travels fast in PTC circles… This will turn into a bit of a novelette, but I actually have so many people I’m grateful to and who deserve credit. Firstly, both my crews are the best. PTC Brisbane and PTC Gold Coast, you guys are outstanding to train next to and compete with. Such a high quality of friends, lifters, and advice (and thanks for the wraps Ricky). Placings aside, everyone competed so well and left nothing behind. 14 hard weeks of work was really the challenge in itself. I actually had three comp coaches, so no chance of bad attempts. Scott Wasson was so stealthy with his last attempt change that people were flipping out and nobody knew what was going on. Thomas Lilley knows my lifting and head space so well, after lifting with me and coaching me through States and Nationals (probably the best technical/form coach I’ve come across). Gus Cooke not only stayed up with me all night to cut weight, he coached me through my prep diet, refeed, warmups and attempts. I have refed before, but never this well (not biased). He also stopped me from eating too many Nutella sandwiches before lifting, extra thanks for that. The weight cut was awful and I was close to giving up. Gus was more helpful than imaginable, without him, and without Stenzel and Michael messaging me all night to keep me going, I would have given up. The fact that Ed Coan would be watching also pushed me. Last minute help from FPG helped me drop the last weight portion. Such a close call. Billa and Heidi, you two were the best competition. All the girls in both divisions did so well (Margie you are a machine!). And Billa, I hate you because this was only your second competition (welcome to powerlifting)! Lastly, although I’ve probably forgotten people, Emad, Scott, and Markos- your passion for powerlifting meant you put together such an awesome run of competitions. Special thanks to the HQ crew for putting together PR6. Emad, your generosity is hugely appreciated by everyone. If you’re a competitive or aspiring powerlifter, please take it from me and chase the competitions that care for and give back to the lifters like these guys do. Best decision I’ve ever made.
