My first 3D printer has a large build area with good resolution for a FFF machine but I was probably overly optimistic about its super fine detail printing capabilities. I fixed that on Monday by ordering a high resolution printer that does amazing quality. I could almost say it is the best quality 3D printed item i have seen yet. This is a sample print of a sideframe for a PRR truck I designed about 2 months ago. It is still on the raft and supports here. The photos do not show the quality well. PLUS it is printed at the worst resolution of the machine. Still there is NO layering anywhere! The best part is with one material you can go right to a final use part. I think with oiling the axles ends it could be durable enough to use for truck sideframes. With the new castable material you can go right to burnout for brass casting.
