When we find stories about people using The Desire Map in groups, this happens: “Did you catch the convo from that book club in Maryland last night? They got deep!” “Did you guys read the Facebook post about the teacher in N’awlins talking about core desired feelings to the kids? Made me cry.” And on it goes. So far there have been 500+ Desire Map groups conversing, from Paris to Vancouver, even Reykjavik. (Reykjavik!) They had The Desire Map book to keep pace, and when we asked them what the highlight of meeting was they all said, “The conversations! The conversations!” Ongoing, butt-kicking, illuminating, heart-melting conversations. I can always find a reason to have a happy cry. I’m moved a lot. But the day I gave myself a minute to envision thousands of people sitting in their living rooms and cafes asking things like, “How do you most want to feel?” and “What do you think the difference is between bold and brave?” and “Do you feel safe to express emotions at work?” ... the imagery turned me into a puddle. Conversations are where so much life happens! Getting people talking is something I’m really proud to be doing with my team. So, we created a talk tool. To us, it feels like a sacred talking stick.
