My first ever Glastonbury Festival was in 1984 (1:45mins ), courtesy of Great Fela Anikulapo Kuti as part of his festival guests ( Thank you very Sir). We travelled in 2 luxurious buses from Maida Vale to Pilton, a village and civil parish in Somerset, England. Afrobeat musicians Dele Sosimi ( Piano), Femi Anikulapo Kuti( Alto Sax) and Keji Hamliton (guitar) was part of Felas Egypt 80 band..... It was a great day out from from London. I returned to Pilton Somerset perform in 1990 with London based musicians and late Frances Kuboye ( Felas cousin) -Dentist/ Jazz Singer. Fran and I formed a band called London Extended Jazz Family Band, performed Tunde and Frans compositions. Went back to one of the world greatest gathering in 2006 with Damon Albarns Africa Express project from my family base in Sherborne Dorset, drove my old hillman minx 1969 from door step our old crib to backstage of Shangri la stage. Performed with great Fantasy Brass Band of Chicago. Going back tomorrow night to the festival from our hood 30mins to Pilton for the hang. May the God of mud be the guide to backbone filping at the Grade.
