My first ever poem. Ecouraged by Mariam Akhtar to share. :) Knelt in the footsteps of my forefathers. My genes crumble into the grains of Your warm soil as my forehead gently kisses the ground. We become one. Connected. Finally. Where my heart calls home. Lucious spring green grass bows with Your breath, glistening in Your light like a piece of Persias finest silk. Your musky perfume filters down into the millions of bronchioles that line my lungs. You embrace me. Internallly. Externally. Suffocate me. Make my last breath yours. I want to lose myself in you like a drop in the ocean. Dive deep into you letting go of every notion that determines my every motion. Wrap yourself around my tongue so that my words spoken are Yours and Yours alone. You are the reason for my existence. The daughter of immigrants unwelcomed strangers. Born into a foreign land Your name engrained into my very essence since the day I was born. distance makes the heart grow fonder they say My heart ached to know You To know my humble beginnings. My prayers answered. And now I turn my face to You. As Im Knelt in the footsteps of my forefathers. My genes crumbling into the grains of Your warm soil as my forehead gently kisses the ground.
