My first post, so apologies to all who have been working on this - TopicsExpress

My first post, so apologies to all who have been working on this for some time. A quick note, something to think about. Went to a local sub branch meeting where a faction convener gave a quick talk. He mentioned that he had given many group briefings for new members . He mentioned that factions were often raised as an issue. I was disappointed with his approach that factionalism should be accepted, a necessary evil, and that nothing could really be done to rid it. We need to put a better argument to explain to Australians that the ALP is a democratic party, so we will have robust, articulate, well constructed, logical, rational debates. Individuals will fall into like minded groups over some issues, but that is human nature. But as we are believers in strong leadership, we expect, and, we demand such robust debates. Unions have long had a major role in the ALP. Unions have been great supporters and workers for the ALP. But all Australians know that individual union members dont always support the ALP at elections. To allow those individuals a say in the ALP is a form of corruption. Australia has a grossly corrupted government who has sold off government functions and policy to Lobbyists and Vested interests. Yet we cant get Australians to follow us because we are tainted with our own form of corruption. We need a better way of explaining to the Australian public that we will be a better government than the corrupted Coalition. We need a better way of re-focussing attention on to good government processes, good government functions, and, good policy development. Ive been a long term ALP voter, but only recently joined the ALP. But I reckon Ive thought of better ways of representing Labor than this faction convener. Just saying.
