My first public campaign was with the community of Nawaeb block - TopicsExpress

My first public campaign was with the community of Nawaeb block yesterday by which all the ward 1 candidates and 7 Lord Mayor candidates turned up. The policy and issues that I pointed out on were; 1. Youth Development 2. Sports Development 3. City Beautification 4. City Commission YOUTH DEVELOPMENT To involve youths in the socio-economical development of the city thus keeping them away from criminal and illegal activities. The National Youth Brigade formed will look at providing security for all business houses and individuals in the city by which the Lae Chamber of Commerce will be highly involved in assisting our youths. SPORTS DEVELOPMENT To upgrade all the sporting facilities and engage business houses to fund sporting codes and promote them to a semi-professional level. As a Rugby League administrator, Lae City as the biggest number of rugby league followers and rugby as the greatest game of all I will revive the original Lae B52 bombers in the semi professional rugby league arena in the country. As a citizen of Lae and CEO of the Coca Cola Ipatas Cup Competition, I owned and worked with 8 teams in Lae which are in the likes of Bumbu Barbarians, Boundary Road Jokers, 3mile Brothers, Omili Jets, Beyond Dogs, Nawaeb Knights, Lae Royals and Kamkumung Crushers to uplift and promote our local players to form the new team Lae B52 Bombers. The resurrection of the B52 Bombers will become the second team to complement the Lae SNAX Tigers in promoting the young and raw talents in the city. The selection will be made from players in the above clubs and the 6 LULLG wards in Lae after playing the Lord Mayors Cup. CITY BEAUTIFICATION Lae is the second largest city in the country and so it needs a major revamp in its beautification in the likes of having playgrounds for kids, family picnic areas, clean and beautiful flowers and trees in the city suburbs etc. The Lae City roads have seen an allocation of K200million for roads and so money has to be directed to the National Department of Works to work alongside with the Lae city council to proper plan the road reconstructions and maintenance of roads. Put money into proper consultants and engineers to carry out successful road maintenance instead of contractors who get money without doing their jobs. Put in a management or municipal authority in the city to oversee and have a positive vision towards developing road and bridging system projects for the city thus reflecting a good picture from the rest of the country about the city of portholes. CITY COMMISSION The current Lord Mayor has already tabled a proposal of replanning the wards in the city and formed a city commission but was rejected in the Morobe PEC Meeting headed by the current Governor Hon Kelly Naru. If I get into power as the Lord Mayor of Lae City, I will go through the proposal again and make amendments to the proposal and present it to the PEC and I believe my proposal will be this time accepted by them for commissioning of Lae city. The city Commission will allow the municipal authority to generate income for projects in the city thus relying on the provincial budget for service delivery. These are just some of the main policies that I believe will be implemented under my jurisdiction. These are the things I have done under limited manpower and resources.I believe that if I am given the mandate, I will continue to bring more major changes into the development of services and mindsets in our city.
