My first response to ugly stuff I cant solve is this: Certainly this one will take me down. I will now walk directly to an abandoned bridge and spend the rest of my days living under it, spitting copper rivets into a rusty bucket of thin, cold soup. But the sacred, sovereign grace and love of God so far has not allowed this. Instead, the thundercloud eventually loses its power and stunning beauty soon shines from around a corner I hadnt previously noticed. I tell myself I will remember this the next time crisis threatens my heart. But I dont. The wisdom joy and peace of my new nature seems to give an hour or so to build the contrast before entering the room.
