My following post/experience is being shared upon the request of the Local Police Department and the RCMP as the intention is to cause public awareness of the SCAM going on..... So, I received a phone call from a guy claiming to be calling from Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) informing me about a serious legal action against me and arrest warrants issued in my name! Here is what he said,Maam, my name is Jason Scott, and am calling you from the CRA. This call is being recorded and if you have a pen and a paper handy, this is your case number and my direct line (he tells me both #s). Maam, the arrest warrant in your names been issued and the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) are on their way to arrest you from your door step at this address for the serious fraud against government of Canada that youve committed. You do have the right to arrange a lawyer to represent you or to arrange for your bail! .... Terrified as hell at this point, although knowing that I am a law abiding citizen, been paying my taxes on time, have NOT violated any law, then why this call? Or maybe someone committed a fraud in my name and has now left me to face the dire consequences, or maybe this call itself is a SCAM? While my brains racing through the tons of WHYs, the guy goes on with the list of the legal issues against me.1: Violation of Canada revenue act 1956. 2: Misleading personal information 3: Misrepresenting the annual income on tax return documentation. 4. Some immigration default etc etc.The guy in a very firm voice calls me a defaulter and tells me in a very authoritative tone that I owe the government of Canada a hefty amount and if these dues arent cleared, besides being arrested, anything thats in my name, any assets, shares, property, everything is subjected to be seized by the CRA! I became certain about the fraudulent nature of this call, when the guy asked me to pay $2400 either through a credit card or a federal voucher. He also warned me about not involving any third party. At this point I felt amused but wanted to see how far would he go so I agreed upon following through and talking to him half an hour later. As soon as he hung up, I called RCMP Toronto, CRA and the local Police! All 3 departments promptly got involved, were super supportive and I was informed that there is a group behind this SCAM that has caused many innocents to lose their money up to $3800/- during the last 48 hours. Half an hour later when Jason Scott called again, he was strictly dealt with, by the cops on duty at the Pickering Police dept I had driven to. The head of the fraudulent activities at the real RCMP Toronto got involved too. Unfortunately, this group hasnt been traced yet as it does not reside in Canada and is using a router based phone. This group is sending out emails or making phone calls! So beware, and dont fall for it! If you have responded to a fraudulent communication and have become a victim of fraud, please contact the Royal Canadian Mounted Polices Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre by email at [email protected] or call 1-888-495-8501, or your local police dept.
