My friend Cy Allen Yaegel Nashville, wrote the following about me. It touched my heart like nothing before had. Ive not read kinder words said about anyone. I said all that to say this, Cy came to my house to Bless me w/new flooring. He has his heart & mindset on helping his brethren out...& while doing so we had a great time. His wife, Johnnie Leonard-Yaegel & their beautiful daughter stopped in. While he is here being a Blessing to me, he noticed that I offered him water....& Im noticing him in the floor working hard. If I had got in the floor, Id still be trying to get up! I first met Cy (& Johnnie) @Ken Roysters studio & did a couple sessions w/him. A few months later, were looking at putting new carpet throughout our house & my wife randomly goes to a flooring center & talks w/the owners & picks out what she wants. It happened to be The Yaegels. They do an excellent job putting the carpet down. Some financial emergency happened & wiped out the money I had set aside to pay him. I had no idea how this would get resolved. I communicated w/Cy every day w/my word that he would be paid. He ONLY showed patience, understanding & never once hounded me about it. Within a couple weeks, I called him w/good news & was able to pay him. Theres been many times that I wanted to explode because people hadnt paid on time & such, but before I blow up, I remember my friend & his kind patience. Sometimes we dont realize how our actions can help/encourage/destroy someone we influence. So Cy, Im calling you out on this one cause youre a bigger Blessing to me than I am to you! Ha Ha! fr/Cy Yaegel: ONE OF THE GREATEST TESTIMONYS TO HUMILITY IVE KNOWN !!! SOME, ALOT, SHOULD TAKE NOTE !!!! Though notably hes played Steel Guitar for The Legendary Waylon Jennings, and producing Waylons last record, not to mention playing for a seemingly endless list of the worlds greatest artists and radio and music heros, Robby Turner is a legend himself. And in my book sits among the greatest men in music. Even though Robby is a Top Shelf Record Prodcer, you may if by chance, While standing off in a crowd somewhere, with your eyes cast on some HonkyTonk stage here in Nashville, you might be blessed enough to witness, watch, and listen, to Robby caress and bend the strings of that steel guitar into shape, until they bring to life a sound so beautifully painful, that it could only be compared to the saddest Keith Whitley song youve ever heard. Not only has he made an enormous mark, but has worn a groove, in not just country music, but all music as it is. He has the Heart of a Champion, and a Hero if you will. He is a Giant of a man, and yet in more ways than one, yes, a man of Steel. Your time with him, no doubt, should be considered Priceless, it has been to me. But standing in the room next to him, youd never know it. Humble in every way imaginable, and imagine if you will, he, in the kindest voice asks, as if he were your host and humble servant, if there is anything he can get for you, and does graciously so, oblige. Just a couple nights ago at his studio, I had stopped by to put down a little area of wood flooring in front of the studio console. And just like always, says hello real big, and gets up from where ever hes sitting, walks over to me, gives me that big old hug, and says, how ya doing Cy. Then not much later I hear, would you like something to drink, how bout a water, so he pulls out a couple bottles of water and a diet mountain dew out of the studio fridge, and sits them on a little coffee table. So, innocently, and not giving it much thought of it being the last soda in the fridge, I picked up the water and diet mountain dew and walked over to sit down, drank some of the water, and got started on the floor. After a couple hours went by, with a voice of conviction and nothing but up most consideration for me ,his friend, but also his guest, I hear Cy buddy, You think you might drink that diet mountain dew, If not, would you mind to much if I have it to drink. And as silly and simple as it might seem to anyone else, I felt a little ashamed, and I had this incredible epiphany, that all of the years that Ive known Robby Turner, I thought first couple times we met in the studio, he was just being polite and professional, but now looking back over all those years, its a plain fact, Robby has never, not one time, shed a ounce of arrogance, been ignorant, made me feel small or insignificant, has always said hello, has always made me feel important, has done nothing but inspire me, and has always after walking away, made me feel better about me, my music, my life, and my day, whether shitty or great. You dont have to know Robby for him to give you a big hug, show you some southern hospitality, Love, or lift you up. Hes kind enough and wise enough to know, that its the job hes been given TO LOVE, and be good to his brother, to lead with HUMIITY, and hes a good Stewart with what God has entrusted to him. With all the unmentionable accomplishments he has made , and as incredible of a person as he is, HE NEVER FORGETS TO TAKE A HUMBLE DISPOSITION AMONG HIS BROTHERS to which honors God for all he has and will continue to do . God bless Robby Turner, Im proud to call him my friend, love ya Robby. On that note , I leave you with this!!!
