My friend David has asked me to list 10 things about myself you might not know: 1. I grew up in a wealthy family but all I wanted to do as a kid was play in the woods where one of my best friends was a tree. 2. I was a real hippie in the 60s and went to Woodstock. 3. I was at the very first Earth Day, and partied with Wavy Gravy (the MC at Woodstock) and the Hogfarmers ( the folks that fed everyone at Woodstock) in their school bus/ camper in Boston after the Earth Day Parade. 4. My grandmother got me interested in herbs as a kid, and by the time I was twenty I was well on the way to a lifetime of being an herbalist. 5. I once talked a crazy guy holding a roomful of teenagers hostage at gunpoint into leaving without hurting anyone. 5. I became a Pagan because I wanted to become a Druid and go to Ireland. Ive been to Ireland and am a member of the Druid order ADF, and love studying ancient Irish history and mythology. 6. When I was 22 years old I moved to Vt. and talked a Dartmouth fraternity into hiring me as their cook . I convinced them I was a chef (although actually Id only been the cook for a commune). 7. In 1972 I talked the Director of the Visiting Nurses into admitting me to an on the job training program that would eventually lead me to working as a nursing assistant in an intensive care unit for 27 years. 8. I took my kids and went across country in a 4x4 Scout pulling a camper to take a job supervising the health programs for 3 Head Start Schools in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon. 9. I once spent a week in Ohio with my ex riding Harleys with his crazy brothers notorious motorcycle club, and went to motorcycle week at Daytona , Florida. 10. I finally married a knight in shining armor (and he really was wearing armor) in a medieval wedding at a castle. Despite the fact he never really wanted kids, I convinced him hed be a great step-Dad to my 3 kids , and he has for 21 years.
