My friend Kathy Grant and I met with Scott P Stephens yesterday to discuss life saving cardiovascular testing of high school athletes. Kathy and Scott went to Gatesville High School together, and Scott was my wife Erins Sunday school teacher in Houston. His son Cody passed away from a cardiac event the summer prior to what would have been his freshman year at Tarleton State where he was to play football. Much like my friend Bart Griffin, Scott has honored his son by making sure other children and parents do not have to go through the same pain.
