My friend, Marie, reminded me of my Pastor and mentor, Bill - TopicsExpress

My friend, Marie, reminded me of my Pastor and mentor, Bill Livingston. She reminded me of a song he and Betty, his wife, sang - God Hath Not Promised. Many of you knew Bill when he was on this District. I really got to know him after he was in a horrific accident. He could have retired on the spot. He lost an eye and the effects of the wreck stayed with him for the rest of his life. He did not quit serving God. He went to Sallisaw, OK, a town of about 2,000, and God used him to build a wonderful building for the Church of the Nazarene. Hundreds of lives were affected, many were saved, others became dedicated disciples. Bill helped me get started in the course of study, and was a Barnabus to me as I studied and started in the ministry. He had many funny sayings. One time I had called him and really unloaded my sorrows on him. Later I said to him, Thanks for listening when I was down in the dumps. He asked, Did you bring back a spare? I said, What? He said, When you go to the dump, you should always bring back a spare. If you think about it, there is great wisdom there. We should learn from our hard experiences, and we should find something of value to take with us that will help us make it through future difficulties.
