My friend Susan Easton assigned me the number 8, so I am to state 8 things you might not know about me. 1. I was born in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. On the Naval Base, so thats American territory, yo. 2. I have a beautiful wife and a beautiful daughter, but I always refer to them on the Internet, not by name, but as Wife and Daughter. (I sometimes slip up.) 3. I can speak a very small amount of Mandarin Chinese, and am slightly better at French. I wish I was better at Chinese. 4. When I was in college, I was a lifeguard and taught swimming lessons. My friend David Rusinak and I assisted in a beach rescue once. 5. I dont like watching TV alone, it bums me out. Watching movies on DVD alone is okay. 6. I dont read as much as I would like, since I have trained myself to fall asleep reading. Doh. 7. For about a decade, I trained in martial arts at Howard Community College, at the martial arts club. I have a ton of stories about that. I still go back now and then, and I am asked to train people which is always gratifying. I somehow ended up with a black belt in a Filipino martial art and Burmese kickboxing, but theyre really honorary degrees. My favorite art is this cool Indonesian style of Pentjak Silat. 8. The interns at work recently pointed out that for some reason, I tend to summarize stuff. At the end of meetings, Ill summarize the meeting and assignments and so on. (This is what you should do at the end of meetings, by the way. Totaly Quality Management, yo.) They mentioned this to my wife at a recent work-related social function, and she confirmed that I summarize stuff All The Time. Dinner, Weekends, movies, etc. I had no idea. To wrap up, I was assigned the number 8 to tell 8 things you *might* not know about me. (Summarized!) I regret if I left out things about me that people really want to know, like why I like radishes and dont like onions. If you like the post, Ill be required to assign you a number.
