My friend Suzan Shown Harjo, who gave me personally many words of advice, many hours of conversation, many encouragements and the suggestion that like our cats we once and while need to just puff up, received the highest honor that a U.S. civilian can receive -- the Presidential Medal of Freedom. As news person, which once you are you always are, I know that there is also a high honor in your home town or home region media reporting on great moments in your life -- and so I am sharing the news report from an Oklahoma TV station, and the clip is of the reading of Suzans national leadership for Native peoples by the White House spokesperson before President Obama gently placed the medal around her neck. My congratulations to one of our great leaders and great voices for Indian Country and among Native women, and all my love.
