My friend and client, noted attorney Richard Gurfein and his client Jill Jacobs received some prominent attention in todays New York Daily News for the shocking decision of a Manhattan Supreme Court jury. An NYU Langone Medical Center surgeon conducted a hysterectomy on Ms. Jacobs despite the fact that a blood test conducted before surgery showed NO NEED for this invasive and destructive surgery. When the hospitals defense team suddenly found this blood test as the trial neared its conclusion, the judge told the jury that they MUST rule in favor of the plaintiff, Ms. Jacobs -- but the amount of the financial award their came up with hardly seems fair, given the destructive impact of this act of medical malpractice on a vibrant young womans life. tinyurl/mhvpelg
