My friend and former RTS Jackson student, and Ugandan missionary - TopicsExpress

My friend and former RTS Jackson student, and Ugandan missionary to Rwanda, Gerald Sseruwagi unexpectedly died yesterday. Here is a report on him from one of his missionary colleagues in Africa. Gerald was a humble and sweet spirited leader who, following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, rose up from life as a street boy in Kampala, Uganda to become a giant among men. Upon completion of his Doctor of Ministry in Leadership Development from Incarnate Word University in San Antonio, Texas Gerald and his family were led by God to build on many years of fruitful ministry together in both Africa and the USA by joining the staff of Africa New Life. In March of 2013 they moved to Kigali, Rwanda where Gerald began serving as the first Principal for Africa College of Theology (ACT). In addition to his tireless work in developing a firm foundation for ACT, Gerald served as a mentor, pastor, friend and a father figure for many Africa New Life staff, ACT students and pastors in the local community. Our hearts are heavy. Our loss is incalculable. Gerald is survived by his wife, Robina and their four children, Bethany (10), Aaron (8), Jonathan (6) and Yosef (4). Events like this are impossible for us to understand this side of heaven. Yet, God has always called us to trust in Him knowing that His ways are higher than our ways and His plan is perfect. Please join the many who knew and loved Gerald in praying for Robina and the children. May the Lord grant them a peace that is beyond our human understanding and faith to continue to rely upon Him in all things. Geralds memorial service is scheduled for 3pm Monday @ New Life Bible Church in Kigali, Rwanda. Thank you for praying and for passing this difficult news on to those who will pray in your networks.
