My friend asked me what advice do you have for my son who will grow up to be a black man in this society? MY response with goosebumps rising through my skin and tears in my eyes I will tell him that he is BLACK MAN and he is the most oppressed BEING on the face of this earth. Black men dont have any privileges, even when they walk in suit and tie. Every single day even if he dont want to, he will have to fight, fight against a system that was built to destroy him EVEN BEFORE he was born. However, despite the adversities, HE MUST must be resilient and challenge every roadblock even when he cant anymore. I proceeded to give her the Dr. King speech that white folks adored him for but let us to our demise, I have a dream that one day my children will live in a nation where they will not be judge by the color of their skin but by the content of their character was a dream that came from an intelligent black man who made mistakes and the statement itself was just mere HOPE. What more can I say when all I have left is what can I DO.
