My friend from Holland sent this video to me this morning. What a great way to start my day. This was filmed in Brazil, but I know we have these enormous beasts lurking in our waters as well. The only encounter Ive ever had was on the river once on my way to a village when something large bumped my canoe. I couldnt see what it was but it left a very long trail of ripples as it moved through the water. Another interesting story I once heard was of an indigenous boy, just a few years old, playing on the rocks at the bank of one of these Amazon tributaries. The father was off to a distance and saw a huge Anaconda moving quickly across the water towards his son. He met the snake at the bank of the river and killed it before it devoured his son.
