My friend gave me encouraging words, even if she didn’t know it. She said “You just put it out there without shame and regret.” It wasn’t easy and the risk was huge. Everything I’ve had to share from my long and complicated past was difficult to share. I had many long nights crying before God and times when I thought I absolutely could NOT do it any more. There was so much pain knowing it was hurting those I love the most and disagreements too. I don’t have any explanation for any of it, but God. And, frankly, he’s the only one I need. If my testimony has helped anyone be honest with themselves, helped a marriage stay together, recognize a drug user, if there has been benefit to others, God gets the tagline. God gets the honor and glory. If it were left up to me, I would probably still be in hiding. It was a life-long lesson: I want to be true to God and I want to be who he created me to be. Any other way is just miserable.
