My friend the son-in-law of my den mother, who still lives on HeLOICE St.,passed on to me this message about the home at 415 Bonnabel Blvd.in the square bounded by HesSOID St. and Homer and OR-e-on St.: My mother in law reports the house has been demolished. An near inevitability long expected, sadly. But now, even though All composite things tend to decomposition, the sudden non-existence of the living spaces until now defined for 64 years by the now non-existent walls seems very strange, very queer, very odd, a tad unsettling...But then as the house has gone,so eventually as sea level rises the whole neighborhood, the whole pile of alluvial mud barely above the meaning of the sea will go and LSU students will walk in bathing suits and bikinis to the Gulf beach. Elders in wheelchairs will sit out on the ends of salt water fishing piers near the end of Highland Road , gazing of toward the ocean horizon, and that will seem to them even stranger. A challenge to our notions of permanence an stability somewhat like a very very very slow earthquake...
