My friends, as many of you know, two low-life thieves broke into - TopicsExpress

My friends, as many of you know, two low-life thieves broke into Scene75 Entertainment Center early this morning and dragged our bolted down ATM out the door. I woke up to a call from the police, my uncle, and a Facebook post from WHIO revealing the damage – broken doors, smashed glass everywhere, and the mere remnants of a bolted down plate where our ATM once stood. It is a sad day for us at Scene75, but more significantly, it is a sad day for America. As I read many of the posts on the Facebook pages of local news channels that are covering this story, I am discouraged by what I see – posts ridiculing our security team and the police force at large for allowing this to happen (we have uniformed security and undercover police officers on duty during all operating hours to ensure the safety of our guests), posts indicating that this occurrence was well deserved for charging for our attractions a price that some may feel is a bit too high, and posts simply making light of the significance of the matter. Shame on these people! It is time to collectively wake up and recognize that our actions, our words, and our morals are the building blocks of the society in which we live. To improve the world, we must take better actions, speak more positive words, and treat others the way in which we wish to be treated. Our children must learn better, and actions such as those observed today horrify me. Scene75 is a family owned and operated business, a business that required me and my family to risk more than most can imagine to bring to fruition. It is a business that requires sweat from a hundred plus employees to operate each and every day, many of whom consider this place their home away from home and their teammates as their extended family. I am truly saddened by today’s outcome. Yet somehow, I proceed into the coming afternoon with hope – hope that the community will show up this weekend and for years to come (we are open today) with an outpouring of support for what our team tries to do for the city of Dayton and its community. My team spends SO much time, as many other businesses do, on and off the clock, helping organizations with fundraisers and assisting the disabled and less privileged with opportunities to enjoy their offerings – in our case, attractions often provided free of charge through our organized programs. I proceed into the coming afternoon with hope – hope that the community has more members like Scouts Pack 307 who dropped off a bag of chocolate caramel crunch popcorn to sweeten the day. I proceed into the coming afternoon with hope – hope that more people in this world have friends who write, call or post on their Facebook pages, as I do, sharing that they are thinking about them and to not give up because the community needs them. I proceed into the coming afternoon with hope – hope, even for the low-life vandals, that they needed whatever it is they stole more than we did to help get them through a ridiculously hard life crisis. I proceed into the coming afternoon with hope – hope that there are businesses who care as much as Hemm’s Glass for rushing to our rescue this morning to repair our doors so that we can open on time at 11 am this morning. I proceed into the coming afternoon with hope – hope that others appreciate the police to the extent that I do (who arrived at the scene right away after our alarm was triggered). I proceed into the coming afternoon with hope – hope that you will like, share and spread this message so that others can see that even on a gloomy day, one can find nuggets of hope. And I proceed into the coming afternoon with hope – hope that each of you have a very safe, happy and loving holiday season with those who matter most to you. Teach them. Show them. And share with them to live humbly, nobly, and with hope for a much better tomorrow. Thank you for supporting us and our community. We are nothing without your fanfare, love and support. -- Jonah Sandler, CEO
