My friends: greetings from Blantyre, Malawi, where the country is - TopicsExpress

My friends: greetings from Blantyre, Malawi, where the country is going for elections on 20 May. It is a period of elections in this region. Just the other week, we were observing elections in South Africa. Botswana has theirs in October, followed Mozambique. Today though, Iam requesting that you please save this date, and time: The launch of our book, Once Upon a Time...The Story of Keeping Hope Alive, is next week on FRIDAY, 30 MAY at 6pm at KEMBABAZI CATERING CENTRE in Naguru, Kampala. The programme will be from 6 to 8pm. There will be some senior elders and leaders from several fields, as well as ordinary folks. But we are keeping it simple, for Iam just a simple Kabalekid, who has only been fortunate to see and experience the world through the help of many ordinary and not ordinary Samaritans. We plan for the evening to be an opportunity to network, meet old friends, and make new ones. No protocols and long ceremonies. There will only be two remarks by some of my mentors..one of them, a high profile, but simple man, and another, an ordinary woman. Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, Dr Shaka Ssali and Enock Mayanja Kiyaga have read the book in advance and kindly written forewords to the book. I tried to write the book, telling the stories in such a way that anybody, from students in secondary schools to university as well as professors and professionals can follow and make sense of the issues, and appreciate the power of hope and keeping hope alive. So please plan to be there to buy the book (Shs 30,000 a copy) and network and then read it. I will be there to autograph it. I would recommend that once you have read the book, pass it on to someone else, especially to students or pupils in upcountry schools or even those in towns. We have decided to keep the cover price reasonably low--30k, is roughly about the price you pay for a piece of fried tilapia fish and a few drinks at Ggaba beach--so that you can buy a copy, and perhaps another for a student who cannot afford. We believe the message in the book is several hundred folds the price. I look forward to seeing you there. Feel free to tell and bring a friend and share. There is no entrance fee. mucunguzij@yahoo. Thank you
